Akihito Yoshitomi's Eat-Man opens with a striking first volume, its cover dominated by the series' enigmatic protagonist — a long-haired, shades-wearing figure in a heavy green trench coat, raising a mechanical hand in a casual two-fingered gesture with a cigarette between his lips. The cool, unhurried confidence radiating from that single image tells you everything you need to know about the tone Yoshitomi is going for: stylish, offbeat, and thoroughly self-assured.
