East of West continues its gripping alternate-history saga with issue #8, "The Street is Burning," from the team of Jonathan Hickman, Nick Dragotta, and Frank Martin. Dragotta's cover composition pulls the eye upward along the curved hull of a massive red vehicle, where a figure in a wide-brimmed hat reclines with boots crossed and pistol in hand, while a goggled, helmeted rider crouches just behind — two figures rendered in a striking two-tone palette of burnt red and pale gold that perfectly captures the series' dusty, apocalyptic frontier mood. December 2013 was a fine time to be following this saga, and this cover alone makes a compelling case for diving in.
