"The Echo" tells of a strange malady affecting Miranda Witherbee that can only be cured through the combined efforts of knowledge and the uncanny ability of the Echo, involving Dr. Doom, his sister Cora, and their brother; the narrative follows their investigation into interference with Dr. Anton's plans. A third story depicts Canadian Mounties pursuing a criminal named Novakowski through a wilderness setting, with Mountie William Miller and his colleagues tracking the fugitive, ultimately resulting in Novakowski's death and William Kurulak's sentencing to hanging, while his brother Mike receives a prison term.
