The long-running Belgian fantasy series Dwergen reaches its twenty-first volume with "Ulrog van de smidse," brought to life by writer Nicolas Jarry, co-writer Dieter Van Tilburgh, and artist Pierre-Denis Goux. The cover, rendered with rich, painterly detail by Goux, presents two battle-hardened dwarven warriors in the foreground — stocky, scarred, and heavily armed — while a towering armored figure looms behind them against a sweeping backdrop of a medieval stone city nestled among misty mountains. Colorist Julia Pinchuk wraps the whole scene in warm, earthy tones that give this 2023 installment a suitably grand, adventurous atmosphere.
