The opening volume of Dwarf arrives with a richly painted cover by Emmanuel Civiello, showing a weathered, white-bearded dwarf clutching a small child tightly as he presses against the gnarled roots of an ancient tree. In the misty background, a group of armed pursuers advances through the forest with a torch blazing and hounds at their heels, lending the scene an urgent, almost fairytale tension. If this 2012 Daedalus release is any measure, "Wyrïmir" promises atmospheric fantasy storytelling rendered with extraordinary painterly craft.
