A weathered gunfighter fills the foreground of this 2007 Soleil album, rifle in hand and shadowed brim pulled low, while a group of mounted riders looms ominously in the dusty distance behind him — the tension between lone man and pursuing pack written plainly across the cover. Subtitled La Proie des Chacals ("Prey of the Jackals"), the tenth chapter of Yves Swolfs' gritty Franco-Belgian Western promises the kind of stark, atmospheric storytelling the series does so well. Fans of European westerns will find this a compelling addition to the Durango run.
