“Prologue”

"Prologue" kicks off Dungeon Siege: The Battle for Aranna with a bold, mythic promise: when young Azunai is chosen as chieftan, he swears to restore the magic of the River of Souls to his people. Written by Paul Alden and brought to life by Fabiano Neves’ dynamic art and Dan Jackson’s vivid colors, the story charts the rise of a united Aranna, forged in alliance with the Agallan giants and armed with a shield born of ancient magic. Cover by R. K. Post captures the moment of collision—Azunai’s shield meeting Zaramoth’s blade—just before the River of Souls erupts in a surge of power that reshapes the land.

When Azunai is elected tribal chieftan, he vows to return the magic from the River of Souls to all the people of Aranna. He unites the tribes into an army and works with the Agallan giants to forge a magical shield. When the battle comes, Zaramoth faces Azunai. As Zaramoth's sword clashes against Azunai's shield, the mystical explosion rips the souls from all on the battlefield and the influx of energy causes the River of Souls to swell and split into paths that cross all of Aranna, returning the magic to the people.
