The series adapts the 2001 novel Dune: House Corrino, the third and final volume of the 'Prelude to Dune' trilogy co-authored by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson — novels built in part from notes left by Frank Herbert. BOOM! Studios had already adapted the first two prequel novels as comics (House Atreides in 2020–2021 as a 12-issue series, House Harkonnen in 2023 as a 12-issue series), and the House Corrino adaptation was announced and launched in early 2024, timed to coincide with the theatrical release of Denis Villeneuve's Dune: Part Two. Senior Editor Shantel LaRocque oversaw the project, with Herbert and Anderson themselves scripting the adaptation alongside artist Simone Ragazzoni, colorist Dan Jackson, and letterer Ed Dukeshire — the same core creative team that had been assembled for the series from issue #1. Issue #3 added Lea Caballero as a collaborating illustrator, per the published credits.
