From the French indie publisher Vide Cocagne, Dum #1 — subtitled Le Temps de l'Innocent — arrives in February 2014 with a cover that immediately sets an atmospheric tone: a wide-eyed young figure in orange crouches at the center of a darkened forest, completely encircled by looming, shadowy creatures with glowing eyes. The contrast between that vulnerable, warm-hued child and the cool, threatening darkness all around makes for a genuinely striking image, brought to life by the creative team of Fabien Grolleau and Abdel de Bruxelles.
