The Dynamite Entertainment DuckTales series was announced on July 23, 2024 and launched with issue #1 on November 6, 2024, making it the fourth comic series based on the original 1987 animated show. Editor Nate Cosby recruited writer Brandon Montclare — known for Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur and Rocket Girl — to helm the book, with Italian artist Tommaso Ronda (who had prior experience drawing Disney characters for the European market) providing interior art and colors, and Fabio Amelia handling lettering. Montclare has described the collaboration as unusually fluid from the very first pages, citing Ronda's deep familiarity with the Disney duck characters as a major factor.
