This Glénat/Lo Scarabeo volume collects Mandragora and Aphrodisia, two stories from Paolo Eleuteri Serpieri's celebrated Druuna series, presented together in a handsome 2016 edition. The cover draws you in immediately: Druuna herself stands with her back to the viewer, her long hair wild and flowing, facing a gathering of robed, hooded figures surrounding a wizened elder seated at the center — the atmosphere is equal parts eerie ritual and dark fantasy. Serpieri's draftsmanship is on full display here, with intricate, sculptural linework that makes every fold of cloth and weathered face feel tangible and alive.
