Nancy and Tom are engaged but when her father dies she leaves school and looks for a job to help support her mother. The only job she can find is as a scantily-clad photographer in Ace’s nightclub. Seamstress Mrs. Foster tells Nancy that the girls who work in the club are “real, honest, decent people like you are!” Tom comes to visit but is ashamed when he sees her at work and Nancy breaks up with him. She and Dr. Eric fall in love but when photos of her in her work outfit are published in the newspaper, she fears he’ll dump her. Eric says he loves Nancy and doesn’t care about her job.
