This issue contains two main stories. "13.20 in 13.20" follows Ching Deering, whose reckless driving damages his Corvette transmission, leading to conflict with his rival Joey whose Plymouth 426 outperforms him on the drag strip. "Speedy Sam" features Sam Boland, who drives his father's Chevrolet down treacherous mountain roads and nearly collides with a stranger in a Corvette; when Sam brakes hard to avoid a crash at the bottom of the mountain, he ends up near a barn where Arnie Woods offers him a chance to participate in a NASCAR-sponsored stock car racing event, with Specs Griswold providing modifications to turn the Plymouth into a competitive race vehicle.
