“The Ultimate Evil”

Dr. Graves stands stoic and unflinching in his dark suit at the center of the cover, surrounded on all sides by a writhing mass of grotesque, multicolored monstrous hands and tentacles clawing up from the floor and closing in from every direction — while an enormous blue hand looms overhead, dangling a name card as if toying with him. Cover art by Tom Christopher gives this November 1985 Charlton issue a wonderfully unsettling, otherworldly atmosphere that sets the stage perfectly for a story titled "The Ultimate Evil." Inside, Steve Skeates and Steve Ditko bring their considerable talents to bear, making this a compelling entry in Charlton's long-running horror anthology series.
