Donjon Parade #1
This first volume of Donjon Parade collects the opening chapters of the series, a lighthearted spin-off set in the same universe as the main Donjon saga. Written by Lewis Trondheim and Joann Sfar, with art by Manu Larcenet, it follows the misadventures of the dungeon's quirky inhabitants as they navigate everyday chaos and bureaucratic absurdities.
In Donjon Parade #1 (2000), young student Morvinet seeks a summer internship, touring the peculiar Donjon with its eccentric Guardian to learn how the place operates. As soon as he leaves, an unexpected rival emerges through the fortress’s battlements—prompting the Guardian to send Herbert and Marvin on a mysterious investigation. Written by Joann Sfar and Lewis Trondheim, and brought to life with bold, expressive art by Manu Larcenet (who also handled inks and lettering), the cover by Larcenet captures the story’s offbeat charm.
