Doctor Strange #4 (454)
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeDoctor Strange #4 (legacy #454) deepens the 'Sorcerer Supreme of Asgard' era launched in December 2025 — the first time the Doctor Strange solo title has anchored Strange in the Norse realms rather than on Earth, displacing him from his usual Sanctum Sanctorum context entirely. The issue escalates the central conflict by staging an inter-realm confrontation between the Angels of Heven and the Dark Elves on Svartalfheim, threatening to ignite a second War of the Realms and forcing Strange into a diplomatic role as much as a magical one. It continues the series-wide introduction of newly created Ten Realms mythology — including the dark wizard Vyrbodin, the angel Rhialla, and her corrupted doppelgänger Scythe-Rhialla — all original characters built by writer Derek Landy to serve as the backbone of this volume's opening arc. The pairing of Strange with Angela (Aldrif Odinsdottir) as a sustained co-lead — rather than a guest appearance — represents one of the more sustained creative partnerships between the two characters in Marvel's publishing history.

This issue is the fourth installment of Doctor Strange Vol. 8, an ongoing series launched in December 2025 written by Irish novelist Derek Landy — best known for the Skulduggery Pleasant YA fantasy series — with interior art by Ivan Fiorelli and colors by Dono Sánchez-Almara. Landy had been building his Marvel resume since 2018 across titles including Falcon & Winter Soldier, Captain America/Iron Man, and the Doctor Strange of Asgard miniseries, which served as a direct narrative predecessor to this ongoing volume. The series editor is Alanna Smith, with Alex Horley providing the main cover; the first collected trade paperback, Doctor Strange Vol. 1: Journey Into Mystery, was solicited for December 2026.

- Vyrbodin — a newly created Dark Elf mage of royal lineage and wielder of 'Scythe magic' — first debuted in Doctor Strange Vol. 8 #1 (December 2025); his plan to destroy the children of all Nine Realms using an army of Scythe constructs is the central threat of the arc.

- Angela (Aldrif Odinsdottir), the long-lost Asgardian princess and angel of Heven, serves as Strange's primary ally throughout this volume — an unusually sustained co-lead role for the character.
