DMZ #27
DMZ's "Random Fire" arc kicks off with issue #27, and Brian Wood's stark cover sets an appropriately tense mood — a close-up of a hooded figure dominates the right side, while a lone red-silhouetted woman stands in the middle distance against a jagged cityscape, with a military aircraft cutting through the yellow-green sky above. The bold, high-contrast palette of acid green, black, and red gives the whole image a charged, urgent energy that feels right at home in Vertigo's 2008 lineup. Wood and Nathan Fox make a compelling team on this series, and this issue looks like a strong entry point into whatever volatile chapter of life in the DMZ awaits inside.
