Dinosaur Bop #8
The eighth chapter of Jean-Marie Arnon's Dinosaur Bop arrives with a cover that pulls no punches: a dark-haired warrior woman in red furs crouches with a serrated spear, sizing up a grotesque, multi-limbed reptilian creature adorned with red crests, while a masked primitive figure and a snarling raptor-like beast lurk menacingly against ancient rock formations. Arnon's linework — both pencils and inks his own — gives the whole scene a raw, pulpy energy that feels equally rooted in prehistoric adventure and creature-feature weirdness. "Fossiles vivants" ("Living Fossils") looks like exactly the kind of lost-world yarn that earns its title.
