Trapped in special chairs that silence them and deny them movement, the heroes are forced to endure their helplessness as a robotic nanny attends to their every need.

In "Showdown," the X-Men break free from their prison chairs only to confront Magneto in a desperate bid for survival. As their battle rages through the heart of his icy Antarctic base, the destruction of the control systems unleashes a torrent of lava, engulfing the fortress. With Phoenix rescuing Beast, the fate of the rest of the team hangs in the balance as they vanish into the molten depths beneath the frozen wastes.

In "Im Angesicht des Todes," the X-Men face off against Sauron, only to see him transform into the seemingly reformed Karl Lykos. With Ka-Zar arriving to reveal the truth behind Zaladane’s awakening of Garokk, the team is torn—Cyclops, wary of endangering Professor Xavier, chooses to leave the Savage Land. As the jungle begins to shift in terrifying ways, the path back to the surface becomes sealed by ice, trapping them in a world unraveling from within.
