Die #9

Issue nine of Kieron Gillen, Stephanie Hans, and Clayton Cowles' Die arrives with one of the series' most quietly unsettling covers yet. Hans depicts a dark-haired figure adorned with feathered ornaments and a beaded blindfold — one eye burning with a single flame of amber light — clutching an ornate key while more decorative keys rest at the image's edge. The overlapping red triangles that spell out "DIE" frame her with a stark geometric tension that makes this 2019 Image series feel as much like dark fantasy art as sequential storytelling.
