“Disaster Call”

Diary Loves #3 from Quality Comics captures the dreamy, introspective mood of early 1950s romance comics beautifully — a close-up painted portrait of a blonde woman in a striped top, her blue eyes cast wistfully upward as if lost in thought or longing. Heart-shaped lockets decorated in yellow frame the borders, reinforcing the series' promise of "glimpses into the intimate secrets of girls in love." With "Disaster Call" among the stories inside, this ten-cent issue delivers the kind of heartfelt romantic drama that made Quality Comics a standout in the genre.
