Destins #6
The cover of this Glénat release sets a striking, unsettling tone: a young boy carrying a heavy automatic weapon dominates the upper half against a hazy, war-torn backdrop, while below, a lone small figure stands at the root of a blood-red branching form that spreads across the dark lower half like veins or cracks in the earth. Writers Frank Giroud and Kris, alongside artist Gilles Mezzomo, bring Déshonneurs — "Disgraces" — as the sixth chapter of the Destins anthology series, and the cover's visual tension between innocence and violence promises something genuinely compelling. A 2010 entry in one of French comics' more thoughtful ongoing anthologies, this is the kind of album that lingers.
