Jeff Lemire and Dustin Nguyen's Descender reaches its sixth chapter with a cover that perfectly captures the series' haunting blend of humanity and machine. A pale, red-haired woman cradles a large rifle while leaning against what appears to be a robotic figure — the quiet intimacy of the pose set against cold, clinical whites makes for a striking image that feels both tender and tense. Nguyen's watercolor artistry gives the whole scene an almost dreamlike fragility, a fitting visual for a story called "La Fin d'un Monde Ancien" — The End of an Ancient World.
