“Away Way Out”

In "Away Way Out," Dennis the Menace stumbles upon a gang of outlaws hiding in a cave, their secret password "Open up, Susie-Mae," and steals a chunk of their gold—sparking a chain reaction when Mr. Wilson tries to copy him and gets caught. With the outlaws planning to sneak into town inside kerosene barrels to reclaim their loot and seek revenge, Dennis teams up with Margaret and Cowboy Bob to stop them. Al Wiseman’s distinctive art brings the whole misadventure to life, from the outlaws’ dramatic entrance to Dennis’s clever countermove, all on a cover he both penciled and inked.
