Defenders #4

The fourth chapter of this 2005 Marvel limited series delivers a cover with genuine menace: a grinning, sharp-featured man clutches a knife in the foreground while a flame-wreathed armored figure looms ominously behind him, the fiery halo casting an eerie glow across the whole composition. Kevin Maguire's cover linework is sharp and expressive, perfectly capturing that unsettling mix of smug confidence and supernatural threat. With a story title like "It's Dormammu's World — You're Just Living in It!" and the creative team of Giffen, DeMatteis, and Maguire at the helm, this penultimate issue clearly isn't pulling any punches.
