Defenders #4

Doctor Strange stands front and center, his crimson Cloak of Levitation billowing and the Eye of Agamotto gleaming at his chest, surrounded by a breathtaking crowd of Marvel heroes — the Hulk, a spider-costumed figure, a blue-skinned woman, and many more — all rendered in Javier Rodríguez's bold, retro-inflected palette against a fiery red sky. Above Strange, two combatants clash in a blinding burst of light, giving the whole composition a sense of cosmic stakes that feels genuinely grand. Al Ewing and Rodríguez are clearly swinging for the fences with this series, and issue #4 looks like a terrific payoff for anyone who's been following along.
