“Stake Out!”

"Stake Out!" kicks off with Barbara Irons, a vampire actress whose real-life transformation in Transylvania years ago explains her timeless looks and eerie allure. Now back in America, she’s drawn into a nightmarish film project where realism demands filming after dark—exactly when her feeding habits keep the production’s buzz alive. But when a real vampire hunter arrives to replace the legendary Peter Cushing, the line between performance and peril blurs in a chilling confrontation that leaves the camera as the only witness. Written and illustrated by Bill Black, with inks by Mark Heike and art by Chris Allen, the cover by Bill Black captures the dread with a stark, haunting image.

Barbara Irons is an actress playing a vampire who is actually killed and turned into a real vampire in Transylvania. Years later, she decides to move to America and go back into acting. She never looks older so she continues to get starring roles. She signs on with a producer who insists on realism so he only films at nights. Because she feeds on people in the surrounding area, her films always get good publicity. Unfortunately for her, her producer replaces Peter Cushing with a real vampire hunter from Europe. When he kills her, he asks the camera, "There! Was that real enough for you?"
