Debbi's Dates #11

A room plastered wall-to-wall with "January 20" banners, calendars, and signs sets a charmingly over-the-top birthday scene in this January 1970 issue from DC. Cover artists Stan Goldberg and Henry Scarpelli capture a flustered young man standing between a girl perched on a couch — presumably Debbi — who delights in exclaiming "Why, Buddy! You remembered!", while a second fellow peeks in from the left asking if her birthday is sometime this month. It's a sweet, breezy slice of teen humor that makes Debbi's Dates #11 an endearing snapshot of early-'70s DC comedy comics.
