Deathstroke #3
This volume collects issues #13-18 of the 2016 Deathstroke Rebirth series, as well as the Deathstroke Annual #1. Written by Christopher Priest with art by various contributors, the story sees Slade Wilson navigating a complex web of family drama and political intrigue as his past actions catch up with him, leading to a confrontation with the mysterious organization known as the I.R.I.S.
In "Twilight, Part One," Deathstroke is pulled from prison by the enigmatic Red Lion to face a dangerous copycat in Chicago, while in Minneapolis, Jo connects with Rose and begins to suspect that the real threat behind the attacks on her may be tied to Slade’s past—specifically, his ex-wife. As Deathstroke tracks down the Ikon suit, now in the hands of Raptor, a thief working for Red Lion, he closes in on a crippled battleship where a final confrontation looms. Written by Priest and illustrated by Joe Bennett, with inks by Mark Morales, colors by Jeromy Cox, and letters by Willie Schubert, the issue’s cover by Bill Sienkiewicz captures the tension with striking, moody detail.
In "Twilight, Part One," Deathstroke is freed from prison by Red Lion to face a dangerous copycat operating in Chicago. With his Ikon suit in the hands of Raptor—a thief working for Red Lion—Deathstroke tracks the suit to a crippled battleship, where he prepares to confront his enemy. Meanwhile, in Minneapolis, Hosun shares a chilling theory with Rose: the real threat behind the attacks may be tied to Slade’s ex-wife.
In "Twilight, Part Two," Deathstroke is drawn into a high-stakes mission aboard an aircraft carrier when Red Lion reveals it holds incriminating data on Adeline Kane’s illicit operations. With Raptor as an uneasy ally, Deathstroke races to secure the intelligence—only to make a choice that could alter his path forever. Meanwhile, Jericho checks in on Isherwood in the hospital, and the shadows of Slade’s personal life deepen as his affair with Etienne comes into clearer view.
In "Twilight, Part Three," Deathstroke is drawn into a deadly mission in the Bronx when he agrees to retrieve his sword from Dex, only to face Power Girl in the midst of the operation. As Slade battles his target, he’s injected with a mysterious vial, leaving him blind—and now he must navigate a world he can no longer see, with only his instincts and the weight of his past to guide him.
In "Twilight, Part Four," Deathstroke, grappling with his lost sight, works with Power Girl and Dr. Villain to develop a new kind of vision aid—leading to the creation of specialized sunglasses. As Jericho delivers Ikon’s unconscious form to Dr. Villain, Deathstroke volunteers to help Power Girl stop Deadline, adopting the alias "Twilight" to mask his identity. But Deadline, wary of betrayal, assumes Slade’s intentions are murderous—setting the stage for a tense, high-stakes confrontation.
In "Twilight, Part Five," Deathstroke—still operating under the name 'Twilight'—clashes with Deadline after the villain kills Power Girl and takes Wintergreen hostage. With the truth revealed that his supposed family were all actors hired by Slade, Etienne confronts his past while Deathstroke pushes himself to the edge in a brutal fight that's only halted by Power Girl's unexpected return.
In "Twilight, Part Six," Beast Boy tracks down Power Girl to reveal that her mysterious ally 'Twilight' is actually Deathstroke, setting off a tense confrontation that turns deadly when Deathstroke kills Roscoe to demonstrate Power Girl’s vulnerability. As the stakes rise, Ravager faces her false family, Dr. Villain uncovers a shocking truth about Dr. Ikon’s survival, and Etienne’s discovery of Jericho’s secret romance leads to a chilling, bloody revelation.
In "Twilight, Conclusion," Matthew confronts Ravager with a past full of secrets, while Dr. Villain’s shocking resurrection of Ikon sends shockwaves through the battlefield. As Amanda Waller’s true allegiance surfaces and Jericho’s world unravels on his wedding day, the fallout forces a brutal reckoning between father and son.
