Deathstroke #1
This volume collects the first six issues of DC's Deathstroke Rebirth series, written by Christopher Priest with art by Carlo Pagulayan and others. It follows the world's deadliest assassin, Slade Wilson, as he navigates a complex web of family drama, government conspiracies, and his own moral code, redefining what it means to be a professional killer in the DC Universe.
In "The Professional Part One: Among Thieves," Deathstroke returns to form with Wintergreen, reclaiming his iconic Ikon suit as they execute a high-stakes breakout from Jazaki’s stronghold. After felling Clock King and uncovering the shocking suicide of Congressman Hasgrove—triggering U.S. intervention in Bland’s ongoing genocide—Deathstroke begins to suspect that someone is pulling his strings, driving him to don the Ikon suit once more for reasons that remain unclear.
In "The Professional Part 2: Band of Brothers," Deathstroke and Wintergreen are drawn back into a past they thought was buried when their former ally Fredric resurfaces with a personal vendetta over a mission gone wrong in Cambodia. As tensions rise and old wounds reopen, Deathstroke finds himself caught between a new assassination contract on the Ravager and the growing threat of a man who knows too much—especially as his former comrade Isherwood, now the hero Doctor Ikon in Windsor, Ontario, remains unaware of the danger closing in.
In "The Professional Part 3: By Any Other Name," Deathstroke moves closer to uncovering who tried to kill Ravager, a hunt that leads him straight to Gotham City—where shadows deepen and suspicion turns razor-sharp. With no clear trail and a target still alive, the assassin’s instincts clash with a growing sense that the truth might be far more personal than he ever expected.
In "The Professional Part 4: American Gothic," Deathstroke and Ravager descend into Gotham’s shadowed streets, setting a dangerous trap to lure out the city’s most relentless protector. With Robin as the pawn, Deathstroke manipulates the chaos of Gotham’s underbelly to force Batman into uncovering a conspiracy buried deep within the city’s elite.
In "The Professional Part 5: Mirrors," Deathstroke traps Robin in a deadly scenario while Batman confronts Ravage, challenging her choices and warning her about trusting Deathstroke. As tensions rise, Batman convinces Rose that the contract on her life was orchestrated by Deathstroke himself—just as the assassin strikes at her boyfriend.
