History

Death of the Venomverse was announced at C2E2 2023 as Marvel's Summer of Symbiotes publishing initiative — itself a celebration of Venom's 35th anniversary — with the five-issue miniseries positioned as the event's capstone, spinning directly out of Extreme Venomverse. The series reunited Cullen Bunn with artist Gerardo Sandoval, marking Bunn's return to Marvel after several years away; each issue also carried two backup features, one written by Venom co-creator David Michelinie (art by Justin Mason) and one self-contained manga-influenced segment written and drawn entirely by Taigami. Issue #3 was edited by Daniel Khazem and shipped on August 30, 2023, with a cover by Björn Barends and a wide array of retailer incentive variants by artists including Gabriele Dell'Otto, Philip Tan, Mark Bagley, Ryan Stegman, Gerardo Sandoval, Rod Reis, and InHyuk Lee.

• First appearance of Asgardia (Earth-13659): a Venom-symbiote-bonded demigoddess, daughter of Flash Thompson (Agent Venom/Venom: Space Knight) and Valkyrie (Brunnhilde), who inherited her mother's sword and her father's symbiote on an Earth where Asgard and Midgard merged during the War of the Realms.
• First appearance of Asgardia's Necrosword: her mother's Dragonfang sword coated in living abyss, a unique weapon introduced alongside Asgardia's character in this issue.
• Carnage deliberately absorbs a variant of Cletus Kasady (Anti-Carnage) by activating the Hell-Mark, making itself immune to Anti-Venom's symbiote-purging touch — the Symbiote Squad's primary tactical advantage — in a story beat that reshapes the series' conflict.
