Deadpool trades his usual red-and-black tactical gear for a pith helmet and rifle in this 2014 Marvel one-shot, squaring off against an absurdly entertaining lineup of armored animals — a roaring bear in green power armor, a snarling lion with mechanical claws, a golden robot, and a gun-toting dog — while a bird of prey circles overhead. The tagline "Brute Force Returns!" hints at the wild ensemble charging at Wade Wilson, and writers Paul Scheer and Nick Giovannetti (with art by Salva Espín and colors by Vero Gandini) look primed to wring every drop of comedy from the matchup. David Nakayama's cover sets the tone perfectly — chaotic, colorful, and gleefully ridiculous in the best possible way.
