Vertigo's mature-readers Deadman series reaches its twelfth issue with a cover by Ron Wimberly that carries an unsettling, dreamlike momentum — two figures tumble through open sky, a man and a pink-haired woman in a purple coat falling in a near-embrace, while a commercial jet streaks past in the background trailing a white contrail. The disorienting, inverted composition gives the whole scene a haunting weightlessness that feels entirely at home in this ghost-infused series.
