Dead Men Tell No Tales #2
In "Book 2: Darkness Rising," the ruthless Blackbeard races toward Barbados with a cursed map that could unlock the buried treasures of Christ—though the real danger may not be the treasure itself, but the madness it awakens. As his grip on his crew slips, his first mate Ichabod Klump secretly prepares to betray him, passing the map to a darker force: Black Bart. Written by Dwight MacPherson and illustrated by Mike Fiorentino, with inks by Tony DeVito and colors by Michael DeVito and Jon Conkling, this 2005 Arcana issue blends maritime dread with supernatural stakes. The cover, a striking collaboration by Mike Perkins and Raúl Treviño, captures the looming shadow of betrayal and the sea’s hidden horrors.

Blackbeard possesses an ancient map of the crusaders which shows the location of the buried (and mystically cursed) treasures of Christ. As Blackbeard grows more violent and unstable, he sails for Barbados, little realizing that his treacherous first mate, Ichabod Klump, plans on giving the map to his true master, Black Bart.
