The fourth volume of De Wouden van Opaal — subtitled "De Kerkers van Nenuuf" — plunges readers straight into dungeon-level danger, as Pellet's cover depicts a blond warrior and a dark-haired young woman pressed against a stone pillar, blade raised, while a massive fanged creature with vivid red fins lunges from the shadows above them. The tension is palpable: two people, one sword, and a beast that fills half the frame with open jaws. Arleston and Pellet's Dutch-language fantasy series was in fine form in 2010, and this installment looks every bit as thrilling as the volumes that came before it.
