The third volume of De Wegen van de Heer plunges deep into the dark heart of medieval justice with "1307 – Het Proces," a chapter set against the turbulent trials of the early fourteenth century. Jaime Calderón's cover is striking and unsparing: a figure bound to a wooden post looks down upon roaring flames that engulf a robed body below, all framed by the brooding silhouette of a stone castle under a stormy sky. Writers Fabrice David and Grégory Lassablière clearly have a taste for history at its most harrowing, and this 2012 Dutch-language release from Daedalus delivers that atmosphere in full.
