Hermann's De Torens van Schemerwoude opens with a striking cover that sets an immediately tense tone: a desperate figure — Babette, presumably — reaches out with a panicked expression while seemingly falling or scrambling among towering wooden scaffolding, with armored figures visible in the background below. Hermann's draftsmanship is on full display here, with the vertiginous perspective and earthy, atmospheric colors giving this 2004 Glénat release a distinctly medieval, perilous feel. A compelling start to what promises to be a gripping series.
