The second chapter of this Dutch-language graphic novel series delivers a genuinely unsettling cover by Bojan Vukić: a bandaged, goggle-eyed figure seated at a table confronts us directly, while a looming, hat-wearing specter with outstretched hands emerges from a glowing tunnel behind — and a pale, motionless face lies prone on the table between them. Stéphane Betbeder's "Dierlijk zwart" promises gothic atmosphere in spades, and Vukić's painterly art bathes the whole scene in teal shadows and eerie light that feel wholly at home in Oscar Wilde's dark universe, reimagined here for 2013. A compelling installment for anyone drawn to European horror comics with literary roots.
