De Smurfen #39

Published by Standaard Uitgeverij in 2020, this 39th volume of De Smurfen takes to the skies with "De vlucht van de ooievaars" — The Flight of the Storks. Miguel Díaz Vizoso's cover captures a wonderful sense of movement and adventure, with a group of Smurfs — including a recognizable Smurfette — riding atop a great white stork soaring through a bright blue sky, while Papa Smurf leads the way on another stork close behind. It's a charming, lighthearted image that perfectly sets the tone for this collaboration between writer Thierry Culliford and artist Miguel Díaz Vizoso.
