Willy Vandersteen's beloved Belgian adventure series takes its red-clad hero into mysterious underwater realms with this 1972 installment, "De Koraalburcht" (The Coral Castle). The cover shows the Red Rider seated on the floor, seemingly at the mercy of an imperious, elaborately dressed ruler enthroned before a giant shell, flanked by hulking green sea-monster guards amid coral and sea-creature décor. It's a wonderfully atmospheric image that perfectly captures the undersea fantasy tone Vandersteen brought to this long-running Flemish classic.
