De Plaag #2

Houot's artwork sets an immediately haunting tone for this 2007 Belgian album, bathing the entire cover in deep, cold teals as a gaunt, wild-haired figure with piercing green eyes stares out from beneath a tattered hood — a small reptilian creature nestled at his side sharing those same unsettling eyes. De Plaag: Nyctaloop ("night-blindness") promises something atmospheric and strange, the kind of dark fantasy that lingers. Colorist Jocelyne Charrance's monochromatic blue-green palette gives the whole image a submerged, otherworldly quality that makes it impossible to look away.
