This third volume of FLIPFLOPs' survival thriller, published by Ki-oon's seinen imprint in 2015, wraps its tension in a surprisingly dreamlike cover — a young dark-haired girl in a white dress holds a tablet, surrounded by ethereal sea creatures: a drifting squid, a pale fish, and soft coral hues that give the whole image an otherworldly, underwater calm. The contrast between that serene atmosphere and the series' high-stakes premise makes for a genuinely compelling package that's hard to set down.
