The 2025 Dynamite series was announced in November 2024 as a fresh restart of Dynamite's Darkwing Duck line, replacing the 2023 Amanda Deibert/Carlo Lauro run, with writer Daniel Kibblesmith (known for work on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Loki, and Black Panther vs. Deadpool) and the art team of Ted Brandt and Ro Stein brought on to deliver a tone-faithful, all-ages 'Year One' framing. Darkwing Duck creator Tad Stones — who originated the character for Disney Television Animation in the early 1990s — was recruited to supply variant cover art across the series, including issue #6, representing an unusual direct creative blessing from the franchise's originator. Issue #6 notably features interior art by Carlo Lauro rather than the series' regular Brandt-and-Stein team, making it a production anomaly within the run.
