Dark Engine #2 from Image delivers one of 2014's more unsettling cover images: a massive, reptilian creature dressed in white robes looms over a set of scales of justice, one pan stained with blood while a feather rests in the other — a grim, almost ceremonial tableau that raises more questions than it answers. The cover art by John Bivens, colored by Kelly Fitzpatrick, is richly detailed and genuinely striking, blending prehistoric menace with the trappings of law and ritual in a way that feels deeply, deliberately wrong.
