Dante's Inferno #2

The second issue of WildStorm's Dante's Inferno series — based on the EA video game and written by Christos Gage with art by Diego Latorre — presents a genuinely unsettling cover: a towering, decayed figure dominates the left side, its gaunt face twisted in anguish and its form threaded with dark, wispy tendrils, while a pale luminous woman wreathed in ghostly smoke occupies the right. Latorre's painterly, desaturated imagery gives the whole composition a haunting, otherworldly weight that suits the story's title, "Descent," perfectly. For fans of dark fantasy and games-to-comics adaptations, this 2010 issue is a striking artifact of both mediums working in tandem.
