Volume 3 of Ryoko Kui's Dungeon Meshi (Delicious in Dungeon) keeps the series' wonderfully offbeat premise in full swing, and this cover delivers exactly that energy. A wide-eyed young adventurer scrambles atop a wooden crate while, below and around him, a massive tentacled creature — unmistakably a giant squid or octopus-type monster — dominates the scene with swirling arms and a striking golden eye, while a smaller, spindly crab-like creature skitters in the background. Kui's detailed, warm linework makes even dungeon monsters feel almost appetizing, which is very much the point.
