Dan'l Boone and his companions gather money to send back to Virginia to purchase land warrants, but scheming settlers trick Boone into taking their money back to Virginia under false pretenses and plan an ambush to steal it from him. Boone discovers the settlers' treachery and evades their pursuit by following a river trail that only he can navigate. Later, Boone encounters Chief Fleet Elk and his tribe, where the Chief proposes a hunting game between Boone and a warrior to determine who will possess an heirloom clock that has been in Fleet Elk's family for generations and will bring good luck.
