After a conflict with Denver Donnelly, her father invites Red to his ranch and offers to hire him as a spy in the range war between him and his neighbors. After dinner, Denver sneaks out to meet Minx Martin, her father's enemy and informs him about Red. After assorted conflicts, it's revealed Minx has purchased all of the local hay available for the winter, and Dad Donnelly confronts him only to be shot. Red and Denver rescue Dad and deliver Martin to the sherrif.
