D4VE #2 from IDW drops you right into a wonderfully surreal suburban scene — three robots going about their oddly mundane business in a cluttered backyard, with a glowing "PARTY HERE" sign hovering above a beat-up house that somehow makes the whole thing feel both alien and achingly familiar. Writer Ryan Ferrier and artist Valentin Ramon have crafted a world where robotic domesticity looks equal parts lived-in and delightfully strange, from the relaxed bot lounging in a chair with what appears to be a map or game board, to the curious floating creatures drifting through the sky above. Already named a Best of 2014 Selection by The Onion A.V. Club, this 2015 IDW series clearly struck a chord, and this second issue looks every bit as inventive and charming as that recognition suggests.
