One story involves a Voodah character in an African jungle setting who must rescue a leopard hunter named Zanzi from leopard men, with the outcome dependent on whether rain comes to the hunting ground. Another story titled "Vic Gutter: Case of the Confused Killer" follows a detective named Vic who plants a murder weapon (a cutter) in the car of a suspect named Vic to frame him, while also taking a country drive with characters named Laura and Erie.
Detective Vic Cutter's quiet Friday afternoon is interrupted when a desperate man named Joel Brown shows up claiming he's killed a rival over a bridge contract—and plants the corpse in Cutter's car to keep him on the case. Brown's self-defense story has some troubling gaps, and when Cutter investigates the crime scene, he uncovers evidence that suggests something far more sinister is at play than a simple confrontation gone wrong. As Cutter digs deeper into the murder, he finds himself targeted by forces far more dangerous than a confused killer.
